Home UpThe Cremation

A Farewell....
At Last, Forever
The Spirit
Who Knows....

As I've said, Linda died on June 22nd, 1998, suffering from Motor Neurone Disease.

At her request, I arranged a quiet family cremation here in Swindon.  Linda had chosen a number of songs to be played.  She was not overly religious, yet the songs she chose somehow seemed to sum up her fears, thoughts and hopes so perfectly.

Of the ten of us present, I suspect only I knew all three songs.  Her sister Celia and partner Mark almost certainly were aware of at least one.  But the others were likely to be in the dark.  I therefore produced a small A5 sized booklet containing the lyrics to all three songs.  The first side of this single sheet booklet has a photo of Linda, cropped from one taken of her and the girls when they were about a year old.  She looked so pleased; it seemed perfect.  At the bottom is one of her drawings, produced for a collection of poetry (titled 'Flawed Gems') she and her art group produced in 1995.

Here, therefore, is the booklet virtually as published.  I suspect I've contravened countless publishing laws, but under the circumstances, would anyone blame me?
